Lilei's Baptism
OK - the pictures are out of order because I still haven't got everything figured out. So, in reverse:
Auntie with Sushan at the house, Sushan (friend Court tucked in behind), Lilei and Gramma at house.
Auntie never forgets anybody - Sushan with a great new book.
Lilei
opening a beautiful frame with poem.
At the Church, and with the Reverend. Lilei looks tired because it's nap time. She's been up since 6 a.m. and by the time we did pictures at church it was noon, and then the gift opening went after that. She held it together well and crashed around 2.
At church.
Lilei with good friend Linda.

Kindergarten Orientation
Sushan was quite excited, yet nervous (as you can tell by the look on her face) to attend the kindergarten orientation. This year there are currently 21 kids enrolled - 1 of which is her buddy Riley. They also go to the same daycare which is less than 1 block from the school. The older kids walk the younger ones to and fro. I usually drop Sushan off at daycare at 7 a.m. and pick her up at 4:30 p.m. so she's up at 6 a.m. as a general rule of thumb. It's a very long day for her as it is, never mind throwing in having to learn in a formal setting. Up til now the most children she's had to interact with all day has been 8 (including her). I know she (and I) will adapt. Kindergarten alternates 2 full days one week and 3 full days the next. In between she will be at daycare with Lilei - I work Monday to Friday so I see my kids maybe an hour in the morning, and 3 hours in the evening - thank goodness we don't have to squeeze homework in that time (do we?). I live for weekends...
I included a picture of the principal talking in the classroom just because I think he's quite a handsome man.
Music For Young Children
Sushan just finished her 2nd year of music. She absolutely loved the weekly lessons with Mrs. C. It was all the practising inbetween that she really did not like at all (I was the exact same way when I was in the concert band). I don't want her to end up not liking music, so we'll be taking next year off and just going over her 1st year book occasionally.
It was a group class of 3 and at the end of the year, the kids of all the classes put on a recital for family - roughly 100 people in the audience. Sushan did Mary Had A Little Lamb as her solo. Her duet with the boy in the picture was Yankee Doodle Went To Town. Then all the kids in this level (about 8) sang a song and did a rhythm ensemble - Sushan played the wood block. All the kids did a terrific job.

Goofing Around
Sushan is riding her super cool barbie bike that Grampa gave her for Christmas 2004. Up til now, she's preferred her scooter but she's realized the bike is faster. Lilei does a pretty good job keeping up on foot thanks to Sushan taking breaks.
Can you believe that these girls can fit their bottoms into drums and those rectangular margarine containers! I think they do it just to show off.
The parkay hat is a nice touch. Add a few tassles and she can join the masons (OK I know it's a boys only club, but times are changing).
Gramma loves to take the girls for rides in their golf cart, and the girls love to drive - they sit on Gramma's lap and steer. Lilei especially - let her loose near a vehicle with an open door and she's in the drivers seat in about 2 seconds flat.
Posing for the camera is a favorite pasttime of both girls. If you bring out the camera, they stop whatever you want to take a picture off, and they pose.
Mothers Day - 2006
I was overwhelmed with gifts from Sushan (also on behalf of Lilei). She made me a bouquet of candies at daycare, some bathsalts and a chocolate spoon at preschool, and then she gave me some of her treasures - a lichi candy, a button from her collection, and a fairy and treble clef window crystal. Our house is filled with rainbows now. Then she made me breakfast - a banana and peanut butter rolled sandwich. She even cut it herself and garnished it with fruit that was left on the table from last nights bedtime snack. She's very creative and thoughtful. The beautiful card was made at Sunday School for me. For supper we had chinese food brought in and it was a real treat not having to cook - a very enjoyable day.
Easter, 2006
Finally, a picture of one of our cats! This is our older Puddin' who is far more tolerant of us than the younger cat is. You'll notice that Buttons (younger one) is no where to be seen. The ears were a gift from Auntie.
Sushan showed Lilei the ropes on finding the eggs left by the Easter Bunny. No problems catching onto the fact that "there be chocolate in them thar eggs!" Happy Easter.
